Renault shows Mobilize car fleet at IAA

With the new brand mobilize will Renault Make e-mobility popular, affordable and as environmentally friendly as possible in the context of a shared economy. A very special fleet of cars is even being set up for this purpose.

The mobility brand Mobilize, which was officially launched by the car manufacturer Renault in early 2021, unveiled four electric vehicles at the IAA Mobility (until September 12). The cars provide an outlook on various services that the broad-based start-up intends to establish in Germany, among other places. In addition to an electric limousine for taxi services, the IAA fleet includes two electric vans and a successor to the Twizy micro-electric vehicle. Mobilize wants to offer new services related to electric mobility in European countries such as France and Germany, in which customers can, among other things, use the vehicles shown without having to buy them.

Mainly for taxi companies etc.

With Limo, Mobilize will be introducing a roughly 4,70 meter long electric limousine from next year. Initially, they want to start with 40 vehicles in Europe. The offer will primarily be aimed at drivers of hailing taxi services such as Uber and fleet operators who want to switch to a purely electrically powered vehicle without purchasing one. The modern designed four-door comes from Renault's Chinese joint venture partner Jiangling Motors Group.

The limo is powered by a 110 kW / 150 PS electric drive, which enables the sprint from standstill to 100 km / h in 9,6 seconds and a top speed of 140 km / h. A 60 kWh battery allows a range of 450 kilometers (WLTP). According to Mobilize, the range is more than sufficient for the application, since professionally used taxis are usually used 250 kilometers per day. Electricity can be recharged for 250 kilometers in 40 minutes using the fast charging station.

A rear with ample legroom and a 400-liter trunk are further features that make the limo ideal for use in a taxi. The vehicle has a digital cockpit with two large displays. Connectivity technology as well as many assistance systems are on board. Mobilize has not yet made a final decision in which cities in Europe its e-taxi will be made available. The vehicles are to be offered in Germany, among other places.

In addition, Mobilize and Duo are showing a short 2,40-meter mini car with a purely electric drive that has been specially designed for car sharing in large cities. The small Stromer requires little traffic space, and the energy requirement is low. At the same time, Mobilize promises a safe, agile and connected vehicle that will be made from 50 percent recycled materials and 95 percent recyclable. The production version of the show car unveiled at the IAA could hit the streets from 2023.

Mobilize for craftsmen and delivery services

Technically closely related is the small van Bento, which is characterized by a closed cargo area in the rear with space for around 1.000 liters of luggage. Thanks to a modular luggage system, the Bento can be used for various transport tasks. The target group are service providers, craftsmen, delivery professionals and also private users.

The electric van Hippo is primarily designed for delivery services in urban areas and in environmental zones with emission bans

The electric van Hippo is primarily designed for delivery services in urban areas and in environmental zones with emission bans. The 3,86 meter long two-seater offers a load capacity of 200 kilograms and 3.000 liters of storage space. Here, too, thanks to various charging modules, the structure can be adapted to different purposes. The vehicle is specially optimized for professional use. The customers of the Hippo offer will rent the e-truck from Mobilize and pay for the driven kilometer. The Hippo presented at the IAA is a pure show car. The French have not yet provided any information on the technical properties of the drive. An e-truck similar to the concept presented is to come onto the streets from 2024.
