Subaru will launch its first electric car under the name "Solterra" in mid-2022. The name combines the Latin words for "sun" and "earth" and, according to the Japanese manufacturer, is intended to express the appreciation of mother nature. The electric SUV with the brand-typical all-wheel drive comes from a cooperation with the competitor Toyota, which has also announced a corresponding series model for 2022.
Most recently, the Toyota Concept bZ4X study gave a first look at the battery-powered vehicle at the Shanghai Auto Show. The model is based on the new e-TNGA electrical platform and is to be built in Japan and China.
