The Czechs are active again for a long time. First the Skoda Kodiaq, then the facelift of the Octavia, recently presented the electric study Vision E and now another compact SUV, the Skoda Karoq. The name and the spelling come from the language of the Alaskan natives and are composed of a combination of the terms "KAA´RQ" (car) and "RUQ" (arrow). All of the company's SUVs now have the same name. The Karoq celebrates its world premiere on May 18.05. in Stockholm.
SUV with uniform name
The Skoda Karoq will be the new SUV in compact format at Skoda and is a completely new development. With it, the Czechs want to set standards in every respect and are taking the next step in their SUV strategy. Visually, the new SUV will blend in with the brand identity and, in addition to typical Skoda strengths, should also pick up on the brand's new, emotional design language.
The name origin has its authorization. On the one hand, the natural backdrop of the American state is anticipated as fascinatingly wild and immediately creates the image of untouched landscapes in your mind. What could be better for a SUV? This image should also be included Skoda Kodiaq whose name also comes from Alaska and was derived from the island "Kodiak". On the other hand, the arrow ("RUQ") stands for the brand logo of the Czechs - a central image that symbolizes dynamism. But the name should not only provide fascinating nature images in mind, but also raises the SUV on a par with his SUV brother Kodiaq. This results in a distinctive recognition value for the customer.
The Skoda Karoq as a replacement for the Yeti?
Skoda speaks in the new Karoq of a portfolio expansion, which leaves open whether it is now a Yeti replacement or the expansion of the portfolio. More likely, however, is that the Skoda Karoq the Yeti replaced, because this is no longer the youngest and fits with his name no longer in the new nomenclature. The market launch is scheduled for the second half of the year 2017.
