Škoda Rapid - video

I was allowed to drive the new Škoda Rapid around Bratislava last week and this was my first impression of the family hero from the Czech Republic post [click].

A functional design, characterized by sober lines and clear edges, forms the current design language of the Volkswagen subsidiary. Škoda plays the ball of the high-quality, yet inexpensive family vehicle characterized by pragmatism. At Škoda, the outwardly worn jewelry of a new car is not applied with a coarse spatula and yet, the models from Mladá Boleslav can be recognized as clear members of the large VW family. Fortunately, the associated requirement of not using old technology in inexpensive vehicles can be met.

But what is behind the design? What ideas should be conveyed? What can a Škoda be - what not? Designer Karl Neuhold was able to answer a few questions in an interview.

The interview with Karl Neuhold (Head of Design exterior):

Many thanks to Škoda, who made the interview possible at short notice. I hope my nervousness - it was my first interview - is not too clear. 😉

By the way, Master Karl Neuhold “just” drew a sketch of what a “Škoda Rapid” should look like, you can find this “hand sketch” over at Jens’s blog…click…
