Roof off, that's it Spider convertible? With the Spider variant of the Aston Martin Valkyrie it wasn't that easy by any means - which was mainly due to the special doors of the Coupésa.
Aston Martin has launched the Valkyrie super sports car in a Spider version. The open-top version is celebrating its premiere at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, with delivery of the 85 planned copies to begin in the second half of 2022.
New doors for the Spider Cabrio
The main difference between the convertible and the coupé that has just been launched is the removable roof section. In addition, the door suspension had to be changed: instead of the wing doors hinged on the roof, so-called dihedral doors are used, which rotate 90 degrees upwards when opened and slide forwards in the process.
In terms of drive, the Spider remains true to the concept of the closed variant. A 6,5-liter V12 is supported by an electric motor, the system output is 865 kW / 1.176 hp. The top speed is 350 km / h, open speed 330 is possible. The British do not give exact information on the weight, but it should be only slightly above that of the 1.000-pound coupé. The price should start well above 3 million euros.
