Talk to Alexa, paint with the horse

It took a while: Ford had not yet offered any software updates "over the air". That is changing now.

Ford is now also offering update functions for its vehicles via WLAN or cellular communications. With the so-called "over the air updates" (OTA), which Ford markets under the term "Power-Up", software updates or function activation can be carried out. Initially, drivers of the F150 pick-up and the battery-electric Mustang Mach E in the USA and Canada will benefit from the improvement opportunities. More vehicles are to follow. In Europe, the Mach-E is the first vehicle to receive updates.

From autumn, the Google voice assistant Alexa will be available for the North American market. Unlike before via smartphone mirroring, it is part of the operating system. With Alexa, drivers can communicate and ask questions while driving. The prerequisite for moving in is the presence of the Snyc4 infotainment system. Ford offers this service free of charge for the first three years, after which subscription fees apply. An extension of the “Bluecruise” assistant system to include a traffic jam pilot function, which should allow hands-free driving, will also be available in the USA for a fee. Mustang Mach-E customers will soon be able to be creative while waiting at the charging station. The “Sketch” app allows you to paint with your finger on the touchscreen.
