A hearse with wildly rolling Ferrari V12? An unimaginable idea, because the transport of the dead is after all a very discreet business. In this respect, it seems only consistent when a funeral vehicle moves purely electrically and thus almost noiselessly. The Dutch stretch limo experts from Remetzcar have taken the logical step and have one Tesla Model S converted to a hearse with a glass case combination rear.
The result can be seen. With the glassy, high-building hatchback, the car looks tasteful and also particularly representative. In view of today's many-windowless pickup trucks, which stand for a maximally cost-efficient and anonymous body disposal, this Tesla conversion is an exclamation point for the much more stylish but dying tradition of body transport in the classic Nobel estate car.
Laying the Tesla Model S on the draw bench was a special challenge for the stretch specialists. On 5,78 Meter, the funeral car was extended, allowing the transport of up to 2,17 meter long coffins. For this purpose, the vehicle was cut through once and used a well 80 centimeters long middle section. One problem with this work was the high-voltage battery, which largely filled the subsoil, which had to be removed for renewal and replaced elsewhere. According to Remetzcar, the 70 kWh power storage is used, which should allow a radius of 350 kilometers.
Another challenge was to extend the rear of the original notchback sedan to the hatchback. Here, Remetzcar decided on a filigree construction with maximally large glass surfaces. In addition, this glass tail must meet the requirements for hygiene and functionality usual for hearses.
