Now it's out: there will also be a Type R of the new Civic from Honda, and this new Civic will probably be the last pure combustion engine that Honda will launch. The Japanese had actually announced that they would switch all models to electric motors by 2022, but with the exception of the compact sports car. If so, then the new generation could again be equipped with a two-liter VTEC engine.
No more playful design
Very likely, the new Civic will get a small boost in performance. The turbo engine in the R type currently has an output of 320 hp and 400 Newton meters. It is unconfirmed that the new one is switched by hand, but it could get a hybrid drive, all-wheel drive and up to 400 hp, at least one rumor says. The design is less playful, more angular and fragmented, The radiator grille was apparently changed slightly. It is not yet known whether the special arrangement of the tailpipes, which are housed next to each other in the center of the apron, will actually remain. Honda has so far been silent about this. As far as the number of doors is concerned, the experts are still in the dark, but it is likely that the new Civic Type R will have five doors.
A sporty interior
Official pictures of the interior of the new Honda Civic Type R are unfortunately not yet available, but Honda has shown a rendering of the interior. The sporty model is said to have a cockpit, which is designed horizontally and has digital instruments. The arrangement of the instruments was apparently taken from the previous model, but the sport seats are new, and the aluminum gear knob so typical of Honda is known. In terms of color, the whole thing is kept in black and red. Until the presentation of the new Honda Civic Type R, the fans will have to wait a little longer. According to information from Japan, this will probably not take place until mid-2022.
