The Kangoo clone test of AutoBild - a stupid thing

The Car picture is not really known for making high quality motor journalism a reality. In contrast to the other titles from the Springer publishing house, however, one remains in a less opportunistic field and only tries to explain the automotive world anew to the readers.

The Kangoo clone from Mercedes-Benz - a well-rounded affair

That was the title of a comparison test in the year-end edition of the club newspaper for the automobile demagogue regulars' table. In the so-called “comparative test”, the successful Volkswagen Caddy, the Renault Kangoo, which has become known primarily through the rhino advertising, and the recent incestuous Daimler group: The Citan.

As has already been proven several times in other subject areas (z. Take the Carglass affair, for example) In this case, too, it is not too bad to act out a little clientele part-time motor journalism.

Although Renault Kangoo and Mercedes-Benz Citan are delivered with the same drive hardware, it is not too bad to write:

The diesel engine in the Citan comes from the Kangoo. The modified engine management makes it look much more lively.

If you disregard the strange sentence structure (probably only due to the print problem of the type area) - then this statement is astonishing from the moment you read it. Not that it just smells like the usual press release, no, you put this statement just two pages further ad absurdum.

Whereby - either you make the statement ad absurdum, or the feeling of the AutoBild testers is just shitty - or it was because of the too “lively Christmas party” (questions after questions!).

Because there is nothing left of the “clearly livelier” in the measured values. On the contrary, if the acceleration values from 0 to 50 are still identical, the Citan already loses 100 seconds to 0,2. And on 130 even 0,7 seconds. At most, it is put into perspective again by exactly the same values.

Mercedes Benz Citan versus Kangoo

To speak of a “clearly livelier” engine is pure clientele journalism and has to do with independent Motor journalism Nothing to do. But what get upset about?

The fact that the Citan is in front of the Kangoo is just as incomprehensible, as the Kangoo also offers head airbags in the second row in series, which are not available from the safety pioneer with the star, neither for good words nor for money. In addition, adjusted for equipment, the Kangoo is € 3.000 less than the Citan and yet offers just as much of everything ...

It's your own fault who reads AutoBild ...

PS: Incidentally, Renault does not have an advertisement in the current AutoBild, but Mercedes-Benz has two full A4 pages. Surely coincidence.
