The new Porsche 911 GT3 - the favorite among the prototypes

Pandemic or not, the engineers at Porsche have their hands full because they are working on the new model of the classic 911, which is due to hit the market next year. The Porsche 911 GT3 has already rolled through the factory gate and when the last remains of the camouflage film were torn off, it was clear: It is indeed he, the king of the Erlkönigen.

Now is testing

No sooner has the secret of the new Porsche 911 been revealed than the test phase begins. The employees are giving the GT3 the finishing touches so that it can go into series production at the beginning of next year. Porsche has never needed a lot of press work because the sporty cars still speak for themselves, and the 911 GT3 is no exception.

Changes to the engine

The question is always exciting: What does the engine of the new actually look like? There have been changes and further developments, but the engine for the GT3 will be a 4,0 liter suction boxer 991,2 Speedster. It is a racing engine, but Porsche had to adapt it to the traffic regulations. The Otto particle filter was therefore a challenge for the development team for the new Porsche 911. But there is a solution with 9000 revolutions and 520 HP, as they are known from the Speedster. This is at least ten PS more than in the previous GT3 generation.

Lots of arrangements

For Porsche, too, the development work on the 911 GT3 was a small obstacle course over the many different arrangements and rules. Around 80 percent of the work consisted of observing the regulations on emissions, as well as the regulations on noise, fuel consumption and crashes. The remaining 20 percent were for the creative brains of the Porsche employees and they were allowed to raise the bar a little higher. What exactly the Porsche 911 GT3 has to offer and what groundbreaking innovations there are will only become apparent next year.
