With 10,23 million vehicles sold worldwide, the ToyotaGroup also defended its position as the largest automobile manufacturer in the world in 2014. Compared to the previous year, the brands Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu and the commercial vehicle manufacturer Hino increased their sales volume by three percent. The Japanese manufacturer expects a slight decrease to 10,15 million vehicles in the coming year.
Volkswagen was left behind for the top position among car manufacturers. With 10,14 million vehicles sold (plus 4,2 percent) of its eleven automobile brands, the group also set a company record. Both Wolfsburg and its competitor from Asia are the first automakers to ever break the 10 million mark.
