Viritech Apricale: super sport with hydrogen

The fuel cell is not only suitable for trucks and SUVs. A British company now wants to accommodate them in sports cars.  

The British start-up Viritech has the fuel cells-Sports car Apricale presented. The electric coupé now presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​is to be built in cooperation with Pininfarina and will be available for purchase in 2023. The drive is provided by two 400 kW/544 hp electric motors, which accelerate the 1.000 kg all-wheel drive vehicle from zero to 2,5 km/h in 100 seconds. There is a maximum of more than 320 km/h. The British specify the range as 560 kilometers, even with extreme driving style there should still be 320 kilometers.  

Trucks and SUVs are also planned for the Apricale

With the Apricale, Viritech wants to compete against the battery-electric sports cars of the competition. In addition, as a lighthouse project, it should radiate to the manufacturer's two other hydrogen models. A truck and an SUV are planned. Prices for the two-seater limited to 25 copies are not mentioned. However, the company does not primarily want to make a career as a vehicle manufacturer, but rather sell its technology to third parties.
