Rare front runner: The VW E-Up

The VW E up is hard to come by. Nevertheless, he leads the sales charts.

Despite persistent delivery bottlenecks, the VW E-Up is the most popular electric car on the German new car market. With 2.556 new registrations, the small car had a share of 10 percent in the Stromer class in July. The vehicles now registered by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) are likely to have been ordered by their buyers some time ago - the standard delivery time has long been over a year.

However, the small VW E-Up is not the best-selling car

The most popular plug-in hybrid in July was the Ford Kuga with 1.764 new registrations and a market share in its drive class of 5,8 percent. When it comes to fuel cell cars, the Toyota Mirai leads the bestseller list with 30 vehicles and a share of 79 percent; the most popular gas vehicle was the Dacia Sandero LPG with 674 new registrations (54 percent). The best-selling car, however, remains the VW Golf with 10.005 new registrations in June and a market share of 24 percent in the compact class.
