The Land Rover Discovery gets new engines with electric assistance. But the connectivity is also being upgraded.
Land Rover gave the Discovery a new cockpit and slightly polished the body design. The motors of the large all-wheel drive are now also electrically supported. Orders are now possible at prices from 59.500 euros.
Modern interior
On the outside, the large SUV will receive new LED headlights and rear lights at the change of model year, plus there will be slight changes to the bumpers. Those who like their off-road vehicle fashionable and urban can choose the new R-Dynamic equipment line, which features shiny body trim and eye-catching rims, among other things.
The changes in the interior are more extensive, where the Group's new infotainment generation is moving in. One of the special features is a second LTE modem that enables two online tasks to be carried out at the same time - for example, over-the-air updates can be carried out without affecting the music streaming. In the rear, the British have upholstered the chairs, the occupants should now sit softer and at the same time be better supported by the furniture. All passengers should benefit from the improved air conditioning system, which has a finer air filter.
Triple power under the hood
Three new 3,0-liter straight-six cylinders with mild hybrid technology move in under the bonnet. Two of them are diesel and produce 183 kW / 249 PS and 221 kW / 300 PS respectively. The trio is completed by a 265 kW / 360 hp petrol engine. In addition, the 2,0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 221 kW / 300 PS, which is already known from its predecessor, remains on offer. All engines are linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. There is still no plug-in hybrid drive for the Discovery, as the optional third row of seats leaves no space for the necessary batteries.
The price of the refreshed Discovery has increased slightly. The previous entry-level engine with the no longer available four-cylinder diesel was available for around 58.000 euros. For the six-cylinder, 1.500 euros more are due.
