With the A-Class in Slovenia

A few days ago I had the pleasure of new A-class live to experience and then drive a few kilometers through Slovenia. Why, why, why the new A-Class was presented in Slovenia? No idea. The fact is: New car models are always presented in places where you can expect a little sun. Unfortunately, it rains in Slovenia on the first day Twine 🙂 No matter - Slovenia was worth a trip ...

And as a manufacturer of premium automobiles, Mercedes-Benz not only has the auto press and motor blogger Gilde in its sights, but also - and that stresses me a little personally - the lifestyle and whatever bloggers as well.

Why is this stressing me?

Probably because I'm such a boring mono-thematician. I don't choose my cars by color and when I talk and judge a car, I include as many facts as possible instead of just stating: "The steering wheel turned to the left and the car went to the left."

It is completely clear to me that hardly any other topic is as influenced by lifestyle as the automobile. People don't buy cars based on facts, people buy cars either strictly based on their wallet or simply based on their gut feeling. My personal goal when “experienced” a vehicle is to recognize the correct pot for the respective lid. Who did the creators of each vehicle have in mind? What is the car aimed at? And is it suitable for that?

Of course, I also try to figure out how an automobile performs within its own class. What did the developers do better than the competitor, where lazy compromises were made and at what point does a customer have to seem to have gotten snowed. That hardly happens.

I like to say that there are actually no bad cars anymore. In the best case, cars are defined for a very specific target group. And that’s exactly why I enjoy this work as a “motor blogger” so much. It's a challenge to find the nuances. To discover the details and enter into a dialogue with the product.

As part of the A-Class presentation in Slovenia, I was part of a “blogger group” for the first time and, as a pure car blogger, I felt like I was in the minority. Things will be particularly interesting now – after the event. The first posts have already been typed and gradually you notice the posts from bloggers that you wouldn't otherwise have on your radar. There is Heike Kaufhold, for example. She blogs at: “koeln-format.de” and has now put her own article about the A-Class event online. Exciting to read – for a monothematician like me 😉
