6 tips for spring cleaning on your own car
1.) What is not needed must be removed
First of all, you should get everything out of the car that you don't need in summer. From the folding spade to the snow chains and ice scraper, to all the garbage that has accumulated over the dark months. This gives you space in the trunk and also saves fuel thanks to its lower overall weight. In this context, you should also take the floor mats out of the car and clean them and then ventilate them well. At the same time, clean up the inside of the car and check the first-aid kit.
2.) The dirt has to go
The dirt must then be rinsed off your vehicle. You can carry out this step in the car wash. Treat the vehicle to an underbody wash. This removes existing road salt residues and adhering dirt on the underbody. Both can lead to corrosion and damage the vehicle. If you choose an engine wash, this should be carried out by a specialist. You can rub the door rubbers with a rubber care product to keep the material supple. If you notice damage to the paintwork while washing your car, touch up smaller areas with a touch-up pen or have larger repairs carried out by a specialist.
3.) Clean the interior
The interior including the seat cushions should be vacuumed. Stains can be removed with special stain removers. However, before using it, you should test in an inconspicuous place whether the color fastness of the materials is given. All plastic parts can be processed with a care product. While the floor mats are still hanging on the line for ventilation, you should also ventilate the interior well. Open all the car doors and make sure that you pull through.
4.) Bring the paint to a high gloss

5.) Provide a clear view
Thorough cleaning of the windows from the inside and outside is also mandatory. It is up to you whether you use a commercially available glass cleaner or a rinse water mixed with spirit or vinegar. The discs become streak-free if you don't polish them in full sun. Check whether the rubbers on your windscreen wipers need to be replaced.
6.) Time to change the tires
If winter is no longer expected, you can use the winter tires against summer tires change. Before storage, the winter tires must be cleaned thoroughly and checked for damage.
