Only one product “very good” / Another high level of pollution / Two Roman models fail for the first time
For the first time, child seats from the traditional Römer brand failed in the current test of the ADAC and the Stiftung Warentest with "poor". One seat fails in a front impact, the other has far too high levels of pollutants. A total of four seats tested by 15 received the ADAC rating "poor". With an Axkid seat, the Isofix anchorage even tears; with a Nania seat, the child is pushed unprotected against the car door in the event of a side impact. Generally there are a lot of bad models this time.
The Cybex Juno 2-Fix proved to be the best product in the test with a very good rating. This is offered with impact shield in class I for children from around 1 to 4 years of age, so it is particularly recommended. However, since not every child accepts an impact shield, parents should definitely try this out before buying. The following seats are rated "good" and are recommended: The Casualplay Q-Retractor Fix and the Casualplay Q-Retractor Fix & Support Leg (with support leg) for class I (from around 1 to 4 years) as well as the Römer Kidfix XP SICT, the Recaro Monza Nova 2, the Storchenmühle Solar and the Recaro Monza Nova 2 Seatfix, all for class II / III (from around 4 to 12 years of age).
With the Römer Xtensafix (class I / II / III from around 1 to 12 years), the belt slips out of the guide during the crash test and cuts into the child's neck, which can pose a high risk of injury - the club therefore rates the product as “defective ". Even the rearward-facing Roman Max-Fix (class 0 + / I, up to about 4 years), a so-called reboarder, receives the ADAC judgment "poor" due to its high pollutant load. The baby car seat Nania Baby Ride (up to about 1,5 years) and the Axkid Kidzofix (class I / II from about 1 to 7 years) also failed. While the baby seat fails in the event of a side impact and the child would have crashed into the vehicle door unprotected in an accident, the Isofix anchorage in the front crash breaks in the Axkid and the seat flies through the vehicle. The child seats from all weight classes were tested in terms of safety, operation & ergonomics, pollutant content, cleaning and processing. Important for parents: the little ones must be properly secured in the seat every time they travel. Before buying, you should definitely get an explanation of the operation and installation. In order to avoid errors during installation, the operating instructions must be followed exactly. The ADAC also recommends trying out the seat in your own vehicle before buying it: not every product fits perfectly into every car. The child seat must be securely fastened and it must be ensured that the belt runs correctly.
