Four-wheel drive does not have to be

With the pithy "Scout" version of the Octavia, Skoda appealed to customers who like the SUV style but don't want to carry around unnecessary weight. The Czechs are particularly consistent in the new generation.

Skoda is also releasing the Octavia Combi in the new generation as a “Scout” model in off-road design. In addition to ground clearance increased by 1,5 centimeters, the equipment variant available in the second half of the year offers underride protection at the front and rear, body planks in the style of an off-road vehicle, 18-inch rims and an interior with special "Scout" decorative elements.

For the first time, all-wheel drive technology is not mandatory for the drive: the basic engine, a 110 kW / 150 PS 1,5-liter petrol engine, only drives the front wheels. The 2,0-liter petrol engine with 140 kW / 190 PS and the two 2,0-liter diesels (110 kW / 150 PS and 147 kW / 200 PS), however, always come in the all-wheel drive version. In addition, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is standard with the powerful engines.

The Czech VW subsidiary plans to announce prices and further information in July. As in the previous generation, the surcharge compared to the standard models should be just under 3.000 euros, which speaks for a start at just under 32.000 euros.
