When I think of a pickup truck, I think of wilderness adventures. Fish in some majestic canyon in the vast expanses of the USA or raccoons save in some extensive nature reserve. Speaking of the USA: Here the pickups are already part of the basic equipment and are inherited from every American. This adventurous feeling is now spilling over more and more to Europe. With the new Amarok in particular, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles wants to go bear hunting in the premium segment, of course, gold bear hunting. The pickup is on the road as well as off-road. With 224 hp, speeds of up to 193 km / h are possible and the sprint from 0 to 100 is possible in just 7,9 seconds. The new, more agile V6 diesel engine in the Amarok meets customer requirements for high pulling power at low speeds. Driving pleasure at a high level and revs, of course. Even more power comes with the overboost function, which, depending on the driving situation, temporarily increases the output of the V6 TDI with 165 kW by up to a further 15 kW / 20 PS. All performance levels meet the latest EU-6 emissions standard.
Big and small big game hunters have it easier with the Amarok, because thanks to its high seating position and good overview as well as a high-quality interior, the pickup is an attractive alternative and getting into the Amarok is easy. Doors that swing open wide and - depending on the equipment - grab handles on the A and B pillars support boarding the cabin. And this also offers a lot for the inclined eye. 14-way electrically adjustable ergoComfort seats for driver and front passenger with plenty of head and legroom, a redesigned dashboard shines in a new design, numerous shelves, a multifunction leather steering wheel, a 3D representation on the colored display, optional paddle shifters and a Optional light & sight package that further enhances the value and sportiness of the new Amarok interior.
Of course, there will also be a car of the future here. The Amarok has all the connections that you need in the real wilderness or urban wilderness. Equipped with features such as App Connect or Guide & Inform, smartphone apps, for example, can be integrated via a USB interface in order to be able to access their content via the touchscreen of the infotainment system. Guide & Inform expands the navigation system with online-based, up-to-date information services such as online traffic information. The 'Discover Media' navigation system also has DAB + digital radio reception as standard.
Anyone who has to communicate more often does not need to roar like a lion anymore. Also on board at the infotainment systems 'Composition Media' or 'Discover Media' is 'Digital Voice Enhancement'. This electric voice enhancement facilitates communication while driving and rear seat passengers hear the speaker amplified through the rear speakers. The 'Park Pilot' parking assistance system supported by the rear view camera 'Rear View' also makes life easier, as well as the adventure.
Prices for the new Amarok in Germany will start at 6 Euro net for the rear-wheel drive Trendline equipped with a double cabin, V120 TDI and 6 kW (EU2, available from 2017, quarter 25.720). A small price for the big adventure.
