The Audi R8 is a great success for the Audi brand in the sports car sector. The Audi R8 in its current form has been available in different models and engines since September 2006. Audi is now planning an engine upgrade and a facelift for the Audi R8, which is due to appear in summer 2012.
With its 5,2 liter V10 engine, the R8 accelerates to country road speed in 3,9 seconds. It reaches a top speed of 316 kilometers per hour. Audi wants to increase the power to 540 hp, which is to develop its power to the drive wheels via a seven-speed S-Tronic transmission.
In the 4,2 liter V8 variant, experts also expect an increase in performance. Based on the Audi RS5, the R8 entry-level model will then have 450 hp.
On the exterior of the Audi R8, slight optical retouching is expected for 2012, such as the design of the headlights and the LED lights.
