Audi TT - Cup of Boredom

It is the time when large corporations' budgets and advertising money dominate motorsport. The DTM, even at a crossroads with an ever decreasing number of spectators, has now received a new supporting program. The Scirocco Cup was most recently active. A street athlete that fans can also buy, who pay a few euros for the tickets and who sit on the stands with their 19-29 years with flag and fan sweater. In addition, illustrious guest starters, former touring car greats like Christian Danner or Nicola Larini, who fought a duel with Playmate Doreen Seidel in popular sports. In addition, light touches, once completely normal in cup sports, a hanging bumper on the Scirocco, trivial entertainment that sits.

The Scirocco is not selling very well, time for a change. Practical that the Volkswagen Group has a new athlete at the starting line, the Audi TT.

The opening race was then as exciting as a current Formula 1 or any other race. Start, after 2 laps the field was pulled apart so that all vehicles completed lap after lap like on the famous string of pearls. Overtaking? None. Bike to bike duels? None. Motorsport sound? None. The Renn TT are so quiet even at full throttle in front of the south curve that a street Tesla almost appears like a loud brawler.

Is that a one-make cup that a motorsport fan would like to see? Or is the focus on the event character. Popcorn, cola, a quick selfie with a motodrome ambience in the background, everything nice, everything nice, just not too loud please.

Of course there were also results. Marc Coleselli prevailed in the first race. The 21-year-old from Salzburg (A) won the 13-lap run ahead of Nicolaj Møller Madsen (DK) and Dennis Marschall (D). In the second race on Sunday, which was carried out under difficult, wet conditions, Møller Madsen had to fend off tough attacks from Alexis van de Poele (B), Marc Coleselli (A) and Joonas Lappalainen (FIN) in the final laps. However, the Dane retained the upper hand and, like at the premiere of the Audi Sport TT Cup on Saturday, finished second. Van de Poele completed the podium in third. Dennis Marschall (D) won the second run and leads the drivers' standings after two races with 43 points, closely followed by Møller Madsen (42) and Coleselli (41).
