Citroen continues to dispense with a conventional hatchback in the compact class. Instead, the new edition of the C4 is strongly based on the SUV trend.
Citroen returns to the compact class with a crossover model. The new edition of the C4 celebrates its premiere at the end of June as a raised sedan with a robust, planked body. The five-door with coupé-like hatchback not only inherits the compact sedan C2018, which was discontinued in 4, but also the mini-crossover C2014 Cactus, which has been built since 4.
Although the new C4 uses the group's small car platform, its appearance and dimensions are more likely to be based on competitors such as VW Golf and Ford Focus. In addition to the diesel and gasoline engines known from other PSA models, there will also be an electric version, probably with the package of 100 kW / 136 hp engine and 50 kWh battery already used in the group.
The next in-house competitors of the Citroen will be the new editions of the group siblings Peugeot 308 and Opel Astra, which are expected for the next few months. In addition to its design, the C4 also wants to set itself apart from these with a particularly comfortable driving experience. Prices are not yet known.
