The new generation of Audi A8 celebrates 2017 premiere. The flagship of the brand will also come up with automated driving features such as a traffic jam assistant, announced CEO Rupert Stadler at the Annual General Meeting. However, according to Stadler, it will take up to 2025 until fully automated vehicles, which permanently operate in all traffic situations without human assistance, roll on the road.
Traffic jam pilots are already offering their current models to competitors such as Mercedes, BMW and VW. In the battle for technology leadership in the luxury class, Audi will therefore have to rely on other engineering highlights. This should include the new combination of matrix and laser light, but also a 48-volt hybrid drive.
