BMW 745e iPerformance: More power and range for the plug-in hybrids

Six instead of four cylinders: BMW uses up-sizing in the plug-in hybrid versions of the revved 7er.

In addition to the conventional engine variants of the BMW 7er, the plug-in hybrids will also undergo a revision in the spring. Was divided so far a 2,0-liter four-cylinder drive work with the electric motor, it is now an 3,0-liter six-cylinder. The overall performance of the luxury sedan increases from 240 kW / 326 PS to 290 kW / 394 PS. At the same time, the standard fuel consumption remains relatively constant, for example in the 745e variant with short wheelbase and rear-wheel drive, as in the case of 2,3 liters. As an alternative to the standard model, a long version is available, which can optionally be coupled with four-wheel drive. The power transmission worried in all versions an eight-speed automatic.

Apart from the gasoline component, BMW has also worked on the high-voltage battery. Their capacity increases from 9,2 kWh to 12 kWh, which among other things increases the maximum possible electrical maximum speed in standard mode from 90 to 110 km / h, at the push of a button it can be increased to 140 km / h. More importantly, e-coverage now exceeds the 50 mileage limit, which is important for state subsidies in many countries. The best variant in this respect runs up to 55 kilometers without the use of the internal combustion engine.

Like the conventional versions, the plug-in hybrid version for the second half of life will receive a new front with an extra large kidney grille and a refreshed infotainment offer. The prices should start beyond the 100.000-Euro-Grenze.
