The BMW 3er has always included a sporty top model below the M3. In the case of the new 3er generation, the flagship will come to us next summer.
Although the market launch of the new BMW 3er series is still imminent, the Munich-based company is already announcing the most powerful model below a future M3. The M340i xDrive will celebrate its world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show (30. November to 9. December) and come to Europe in July.
Under the hood of the M340i is an inline six-cylinder petrol engine with turbocharging, which brings it up to 275 kW / 374 PS and increases its 35 kW / 48 PS compared to its predecessor. The torque increases by 50 to 500 Newton meters. The power is transmitted to all four wheels, from a standing start it goes to 4,4 speed in 100 seconds.
The other technical refinements of the M340i include M sports suspension, more direct sports steering, differential lock, larger brake, sports exhaust system and special 18 inch alloy wheels. Sports seats and Alcantara accents complete the picture in the interior. BMW has not yet announced prices for the new M340i xDrive; the old model last started at around 54.000 euros.
