Limited to 200 specimens, this business racer is one of the most powerful BMWs of all times, and its individualized look, Competition package and a host of special features are sure to make a splash again.
With its 4,4 V8, it is not exactly one of the big eight-cylinder engines. But the high-speed unit has twin-power turbo technology and tickles 40 extra horsepower from the eight combustion chambers by increasing the boost pressure and making the corresponding adjustments in the engine management - i.e. through classic chip tuning. This also increases the torque by 20 Nm.
But the Munich donated the Bayern Express not only an increase in performance, but also a competition package. It includes a lowering by 10mm as well as a strimmer tuning of the springs, dampers and stabilizers. In addition, the steering has been optimized with an adapted characteristic curve and should now work more directly. Added to this is the M-Dynamic mode of the DSC, which aims to be even more geared towards sporty handling.
The BMW M5 Competition Edition is available in two exclusive paint finishes. On the one hand, 100 vehicles are painted in carbon black metallic, and on the other hand, the other half is painted in mineral white metallic. What they both have in common are the 20-inch M light alloy wheels in Jet Black uni with 265 tires at the front and 295 tires at the rear. There are also the M Performance Parts in carbon: the rear diffuser, the mirror caps and much more are made of lightweight material. The kidneys - i.e. the typical BMW grill - shine in a wicked high-gloss black, while the lettering on the side air outlets - “M5 Competition” - underlines the restraint of the package. Eventually he became very small and inconspicuous.
There is also a strictly sporty atmosphere in the interior. Carbon strips with the “M5 Competition 1/200” logo are also used, as is the full leather interior in Merino Black with contrasting stitching in opal white. M-multifunctional seats, a B&O surround sound system with 1.200 watts and a head-up display are also installed. Good thing, after all, with the BMW M5 Competition Edition you are often traveling far too fast without even noticing it. The view from the street can be dangerous.
