The new Citroen C4 wants to be one of the cheaper models in the compact class. But first come the higher quality and more expensive variants.
The new Citroen C23.336 can now be ordered at prices starting at 4 euros. A basic version of the compact car with crossover elements will be submitted at a later date and will then cost 19.291 euros. Right at the start of delivery in December, however, the electric version is already available for 33.766 euros.
First, a 96 kW / 131 PS 1,2-liter petrol engine opened the drive range. Above that ranks another gasoline engine with 111 kW / 155 PS, the diesel range consists of two 1,5-liter engines with 81 kW / 110 PS and 96 kW / 131 PS. There is also the 100 kW / 136 PS electric drive with a 50 kWh battery and a range of 350 kilometers. The future entry-level engine is a 74 kW / 101 PS 1,2-liter petrol engine, which pushes the price below the 20.000 euro mark.
Most recently, Citroen was only represented in the extended compact segment with the small crossover C4 Cactus. The new C4 towers over this by around 20 centimeters, with its 4,36 meters, despite its SUV-like design, it competes against competitors such as VW Golf, Ford Focus or Opel Astra. The most noticeable stylistic feature in addition to the increased ground clearance and the robust planks on the flank is the coupé-like sloping hatchback.
