Citroen cars traditionally stand for avant-garde and comfort. The French will continue to attach particular importance to these properties in the future.
The 100-year-old Citroen brand has produced a large number of avant-garde and particularly comfortable cars. Following this tradition, the French have now put a futuristic concept car called 19_19 on the wheels, which optically, technically and with its comfort solutions points to a somewhat further future of the Citroen.
An unusual detail is the free-standing 30-inch wheels developed in cooperation with Goodyear, in which the tires and rim merge. These hybrid wheels are designed to ensure low noise levels. In interaction with an adaptive chassis, the French promise particularly high driving comfort.
The actual body of the 19_19 with futuristic front and rear lights is an almost monolithic-looking body that largely dispenses with curlicues or attachments such as exterior mirrors. In the rear area of the roof, however, there are two fins in which the LIDAR technology was housed.
Opposing hinged side doors and the absence of B-pillars allow a generous entry into a comfortably designed interior that is flooded with light thanks to many glass surfaces. In the rear there are sofa-like seats on which passengers can lay their heads on a net-like structure made of elastic knits. The passenger side, on the other hand, offers a recliner. If necessary, the driver can relax on this, because alternatively the autopilot takes over the vehicle control. Then the steering wheel and pedals pull back in the tidy cockpit. In any case, the workplace largely dispenses with buttons or switches, because occupants of the 19_19 can call up multimedia content via voice control, activate calls or regulate interior lighting and climate functions.
If desired, the Citroen concept not only drives autonomously, but basically also purely electrically. Two electric motors on the front and rear axles provide 340 kW / 462 hp and 800 Nm of torque, which allows a sprint time from a standing start to 100 kilometers in 5 seconds and a maximum of 200 km / h. A 100 kWh battery enables a range of 800 kilometers. Charging - wirelessly thanks to induction charging technology - should take 20 minutes.
