Cupra Formentor: view of SUV coupe

Cupra wants to be more than an extra sporty seat offshoot. In Geneva, the new brand is now showing the study of its first own model.

Cupra emphasizes its independence from Seat at the Geneva Motor Show (7 until 17, March) and presents the study of a future stand-alone model. The Formentor called SUV coupe is based optically on the middle-class crossover Seat Tarraco, but comes in more detail therefore aggressive and should radiate more dynamic with its sloping roofline. The drive is powered by a plug-in hybrid with 180 kW / 245 PS, which will enable 50 kilometers of pure electric driving.

The production version of the sporty SUV could start next year. The newly founded Seat offshoot Cupra would then have a first independent model in the program. So far the only offer of the Spaniards is the Cupra Ateca, a spicy version of the eponymous seat.
