He does not like dirt, dust and oil mist at all - after all, all of this burns on his sensor surface and falsifies the measured values. Therefore, you should do the following things in the context of the air filter exchange: replace the air filter while the air filter box and the air lines a little clean. The hose of the crankcase ventilation can also be cleaned in this operation. The best part: for the most important work step, the replacement of the air filter, you do not even need tools on the Corsa B. Here are the instructions in a few steps: Unlock the bonnet and set it up. Already in the direction of travel you can see the air filter box on the right, the hoses of which also accommodate the LMM on the way to the throttle valve.

The lid is locked with two clamps and only inserted on the opposite side. Unlock the two clips, you can remove the lid.

Now presents the polluted Air Filter, Simply remove this, the air filter box of coarse dirt such as leaves or similar. free - who has a compressed air gun at hand, who can blow out the box - and then insert the new air filter.

Assemble everything in reverse order, done!

Why is such an air filter change necessary at all? For one such air filter change costs practically nothing. Well under ten euros can be found branded products and the installation is done without tools in five minutes. On the other hand, because the air filter really does hard work. Let's say we drive about 15.000 kilometers per year and inspection. The average German manages a total average speed of 50 km / h on this route. So he's on 300 hours to cover the 15.000 kilometers. The 1.2 16V engine of the Corsa needs per hour, at medium speed, 90.000 liters (!) Of air for combustion. Over the year, the filtered air volume adds up to 27.000.000 liters. Twenty-seven million liters of air. Since then he may also like to give a change.

If you still want to clean the crankcase breather, you must remove the black hose, which goes from the throttle valve to the cylinder head, and then rinse it well with some brake cleaner until the oil sludge is completely removed. Why is this step necessary? With an added crankcase ventilation, it can lead to an overpressure in the crankcase, which can lead to an uncontrolled pressure build-up of the oil mist within the engine. These currents can sometimes reach high speeds and return to the air mass meter. Here, the oil vapor burns on the sensor surface, destroying the air mass meter.
