In 2012, the company filed for bankruptcy. The rights to the Apollo brand were sold to a foreign investor. This investor, Ideal Team Ventures from Hong Kong, founded Apollo Automobil GmbH with headquarters in Denkendorf, Upper Bavaria. It is the direct successor of the Gumpert sports car manufacturer. The legendary sports car brand De Tomaso is also part of the Ideal Team Ventures portfolio.
