German electric car fleet - Hamburg has the most

There is an east-west divide in e-car distribution in Germany. The Stromer are particularly well represented in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. However, the real e-mobility leader among the federal states is different.

Hamburg is the state with the highest density of electric cars. According to data from the Agency for Renewable Energy (AEE), there are 1.000 battery-powered cars for every 2,81 inhabitants of the Hanseatic city. This puts the northern German metropolis ahead of the automotive location of Bavaria with a quota of 2,52 electric cars per 1.000 inhabitants. In terms of absolute registration numbers, the home of Audi and BMW is the nationwide leader with 20.063 units.

Saxony-Anhalt is the bottom of e-mobility, where there are only 1.000 e-mobiles per 0,71 inhabitants. The balance is little better in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (0,73) and Thuringia (1,0). In absolute numbers, the city-state of Bremen is in the rear with 446 approved Stromers. A total of 83.175 pure electric cars are registered in Germany, the share per 1.000 inhabitants is 1,77.
