Nissan presented the “New Qashqai” in London. It is the second generation of a successful compact SUV. I got the first generation of the “Nomaden” after a long test drive,  detailed in this article presented.

After seven successful years, the second generation of the Qashqai will be launched in February 2014.

As a car logger is no longer able to meet all appointments full-time, I have to use Nissan's press material for this presentation.

4,9 centimeters longer, two centimeters wider and therefore 1,5 centimeters flatter

As a result, the new Qashqai looks sportier, stretched and dynamic. The side view shows the powerful wheel arches and especially the Nissan squash line for the window guidance in the area of the C-pillar. A design feature that you last at new Nissan Note saw shaped in sheet metal. The Qashqai now with a powerful C-pillar and new, attractive proportions.

The V-shaped Nissan grill is striking from the front. Its lines continue in the bonnet, emphasizing a powerful tension. The bumper got a modified “squash line” above the fog lights. The LED daytime running lights support the modern and sporty design language at the front.

Those who choose the top equipment will also be able to rely on LED technology for low and high beams.

LED turn signal strip in the exterior mirror. Underneath you can see the bulge for one of the four cameras for the Nissan Around-View-Monitor (AVM)

In the field of active safety, Nissan also wants to be at the forefront with the Qashqai. There will be a fatigue warning system, an emergency brake assistant, a traffic sign assistant, a lane departure warning system, monitoring of the blind spot and also an automatic parking assistant.

The new Qashqai should (first?) Only be available as a five-seater. But the ambience in the interior became significantly more valuable. Nissan claims to have at least an entire class higher in the quality of the materials used. The cockpit appears tidy. Here a first seat test is necessary to be able to check the expectations of the higher demands.

Nissan 33 Qashqai 2014

Nissan calls it its own CVT (infinitely) Xtronic. As soon as the driver demands more power and forces his own driving style, this CVT transmission should be able to be driven like a classic automatic with gear ratios. If you glide smoothly, you will feel the comfort of the CVT instead of shifting.

Nissan 20 Qashqai 2014

Available in Germany from February 2014, but can already be ordered today.

The starting price should be based on the current model, which would correspond to just under € 20.000 for the basic version. At the beginning there are four engines with 110 HP to 150 HP to choose from. A 1.2 liter gasoline engine with turbocharging and 115 hp and a 1.6 liter gasoline turbo with 150 hp are available for the gasoline sector. The base has a displacement of 1.5 liters and 110 hp. The more powerful diesel alternative offers 130 hp from a 1.6 liter displacement. Nissan now only offers turbo engines in the new Qashqai.
