E-car production: half come from Germany

Germany overtakes France in electric car production. And it is becoming the biggest factor in Europe, says a study.

German e-car production will exceed the million mark in 2025. A study by the Chemnitz Automotive Institute (CATI) expects 1,1 million pure battery electric vehicles to be produced in Germany in five years. This then corresponds to around 50 percent of Europe-wide production.

According to the researchers, Germany will overtake France as an electric car location for the first time this year. For 2022 they expect 600.000 vehicles, Europe-wide there are 1,2 million. At this point in time there are, according to the forecast, 35 production sites in eleven countries - double compared to 2019.
