Electric car demand triples

The sales for E-cars continue to rise steeply in the countries of the EU. Their sales tripled in just one year.

The demand for electric cars in the EU has more than tripled within a year. As an evaluation by the market analyst Finbold shows, the number of newly registered electric vehicles rose from 63.422 in the second quarter of 2020 to 210.298 electric cars in the second quarter of 2021. This corresponds to an increase of 231,6 percent. 

In the first half of 2021, the market share of battery-electric cars in the EU rose to 6,7 percent, while the share of plug-in hybrids rose to 8,3 percent and of hybrid-powered cars to 18,9 percent. Gasoline engines are still most in demand with a market share of 42 percent, followed by diesels with 21,7 percent.
