Electrical plans at Jeep

Electrically off-road: Jeep thinks this is a good idea not only from an ecological point of view. And is driving the drive changeover.

Off-road vehicle manufacturer Jeep has announced a major electric offensive for its 80th birthday. By 2025, the stellantis-Daughter at least one variant with pure E-drive to be found - from Mini SUV Renegade to the upcoming luxury all-wheel drive Wagoneer. Electrified models are expected to account for 70 percent of global sales by the middle of the decade; In addition to e-mobiles, Jeep also includes hybrids here.

With the plug-in hybrid versions from Renegade and Compass, Jeep has had two first models with a plug on the market since last year. The off-road classic Wrangler has recently also joined. Brand boss Christian Meunier clears any reservations about electrification in a conference call with journalists. In addition to the emission advantages, he emphasizes the silent driving off-road and the good traction of the electric motor. Design boss Mark Allen also emphasizes the new design possibilities of the drive. From the reduced space requirement to the increasing attractiveness of the convertible fund, where passengers no longer have to sit in exhaust fumes.

In addition to electrification, Jeep also has other technology plans. In the future, the brand's electric models should be able to drive autonomously through the terrain - while the occupants lie down and look at the starry sky. So-called peer-to-peer charging should also be possible in the future. Then a car with a fully charged battery can transfer its electricity directly to a vehicle with a lower battery level.
