Electric scooter Zapp i300

Narrow 90 kilogram brings the electric scooter i300 on the scales, but the slender Brit offers more torque than a Porsche 911.

Zapp Scooters is a new scooter brand from England, which has developed the i300 in a multiple convention-breaking electric scooter. The project, which was presented as a concept for the first time around a year ago, is now to take on concrete forms. From now on orders are accepted. 6.300 Euro costs the innovative Stromer.

The scooter, which only weighs 90 kilograms, is based on an airy aluminum construction, which as a z-shaped exoskeleton forms, among other things, the basis for the footwell and seat platform. Beneath the free-floating seat are the single-arm swingarms for the rear wheel and the pushrod-mounted shock absorber. In addition, there is the electric motor, which gives the force on the rear wheel via a belt drive. Since there is a lot of freedom between the rear apron and the rear wheel, no classic fender construction was possible. Instead, a boom with a corresponding strainer is mounted on the rear wheel axle.

Actually, the Zapp i300 looks like an 45-km / h scooter, but its performance is on sports car level

The e-motor delivers 14 kW / 19 horsepower and 587 Newtonmeter, allowing for acceleration from standstill to 50 km / h in just over two seconds and up to a top speed of around 100 km / h in five seconds. In terms of performance, the very light scooter actually moves in the 300er class. Given this performance, equipping with a wheelie control system does not seem outlandish. Power is provided by two removable, 5,5-kilogram batteries, which allow range to be traveled between 60 and 90, as long as you drive in the probably power-limited Eco mode. The charging time is Zapp with less than four hours.

Clean thing: The rear wheel is driven by belts

The i300 also has some unusual solutions for e-scooters in other respects. So there is an upside-down front fork, adjustable spring elements, an ABS brake system with four-piston caliper front, extra flat and wide tires on the 14-inch alloy wheels and a very colorful, high-resolution display in the cockpit. Optionally, customers can order a GPS tracking system and dashcam. In addition, Zapp offers a range of other equipment and customization options. If you put plenty of check marks, you can drive the price well above 10.000 Euro
