Even for a Erlkönig does not always seem the sun, not even if hidden under the psychedelic stickers the new luxury convertible Stuttgart.

S-Class Convertible, Erlkönig

Last year came the new one S-Class on the market. The test drives, back in Canada, were convincing in many areas. Visually, the fresh S-Class looked years younger and even smaller than had previously been expected. In addition to the appearance, it was above all the driving comfort that was convincing. The new Magic Body Control suspension It could have been given a German name, but the English terminology does not detract from its function. With the first “seeing chassis” in series production, a new dimension of suspension comfort entered the luxury class.

At that time it was already clear - the new S-Class sedan will not remain alone. There were said to be six variants at the time.

S-Class sedan, S-Class Coupe, S-Class Convertible

The Coupe convinced in the test drives in Florence, Now the S-Class Convertible shows up in the last Tarnstufe before the world premiere. World premiere for the new convertible should already be in the fall at the LA Auto Show.

The S-Class convertible will also be produced at the parent plant in Sindelfingen, which is good news for the location. Made in Germany, especially important for a vehicle in the luxury segment.

As you can already see in the pictures, the S-Class Cabriolet gets a soft top and carries many design features of the coupe. You can see the rear of the coupe again, the nose is a familiar and in between an enormously long wheelbase. The whole convertible should look extremely elegant in the open state.

In the engines, the convertible will be based on the coupe. V8 and V12 versions and naturally charged AMG variants.

The remaining three variants

Sedan, coupe, convertible – three versions. Three are still missing to get to the initially rumored 6 variants. There are already two wheelbase versions of the sedan, making the sedan short and long. Two more missing. An extra long version that replaces the Maybach is said to be part of it and if you believe the information on the Internet, then an “even longer” version would be planned. A Pullman variant with three rows of seats?

Hm?

Maybe, but not necessarily.

How about a four-door coupe based on the sedan? Or a shooting brake version? Certainly absolutely unique in the luxury segment.
