European car market - New low for diesel

The diesel remains in crisis in Europe. Among other things, cars with alternative drive systems can benefit.

The diesel share of Europe's new cars fell in March to the lowest monthly level in this millennium. According to data from the consulting agency Jato, 31 percent of all new cars registered in the EU-23 had a diesel engine on board, compared with 36 percent in the same month last year. In return, the proportion of gasoline-powered vehicles increased from 57 percent to 60 percent, the rate of alternative drives rose from 5,3 to 7,1 percent. The most successful model in this division was the Tesla Model 3 electric car with almost 16.000 new registrations, followed by the small hybrid Toyota Yaris with almost 13.000 new registrations and the Toyota C-HR hybrid SUV, which was sold around 12.000 times.
