Driving schools in the Corona year

In the past year, driving schools had to be temporarily closed. This is reflected in the number of exams.

The number of driving tests has decreased over the past year. The Federal Motor Transport Authority counted 1,7 million theoretical driving license tests, which corresponds to a decrease of 7 percent. The number of practical exams decreased by 11 percent to 1,5 million. The decrease is probably due not least to the fact that the driving schools had to remain temporarily closed in the wake of the corona pandemic.

However, the proportion of successful exams increased in 2020 compared to the previous year. At that time it was 64 percent in theory, in the end it was 66 percent. In the practical exam, it increased from 70 to 71 percent. The pass rate was highest in Schleswig-Holstein at 75,2 percent, while the practical driving examiners in Hamburg were the strictest. Only 54 percent of the trips there were successfully completed.
