Ford Focus Electric - Low price instead of long range

Ford saves on range with the new edition of the Focus Electric Drive. The second generation of the compact electric car, expected for the end of 2016, is expected to cover around 160 kilometers per battery charge - just 38 kilometers more than before. This was announced by the head of the Ford electrification program, Kevin Layden, to "Automotive News". The US manufacturer is thus refusing to compete in the range race - recently Chevrolet, for example, had announced a range of around 320 kilometers for its electric crossover bolt.

To compensate for the comparatively short range, Ford promises low prices. The current model costs $ 29.000 in the United States (around € 26.000) and € 34.900 in Germany. So far, the car has not been a bestseller in either market. There were just 2016 new registrations in the United States in the first three months of 257, none in Germany (January and February). In general, the model is treated relatively neglected, at least in this country, in addition to the high price, the lack of advertising should also cause the low customer response.
