Ford Transit - More economical and lighter

Less consumption, but more payload: The refreshed Ford Transit wants to score with greater customer value.

Ford launches the revamped Transit Transit models this summer. Another expansion stage of the two-liter diesel complements the engine range. This will be paired with a 48-Volt-Mild-Hybrid to reduce fuel consumption. In addition, by weight savings in the body and other components, the weight could be lowered so that the payload increases by up to 80 kilograms. At prices, the manufacturer makes no statements. At present the transit (passenger car) costs from 31.550 Euro net (37.545 Euro gross).

The 77-liter comes with 105 kW / 95 PS as the fourth engine variant in addition to the expansion stages with 130 kW / 125 PS, 170 kW / 2,0 PS and 136 kW / 185 PS on the market. The maximum torque here is 415 Nm. As a special feature, this engine is offered with an 48-Volt mild hybrid system to improve fuel efficiency. Thus, the system should enable savings of up to eight percent.

A bonnet made of aluminum instead of steel reduces the weight by 5,4 kilograms. The redesign of the rear axle on vehicles with rear-wheel drive brings almost 15 kilograms of weight savings. New rims save 5,5 kilograms of weight. Overall, the reduction adds up to 80 kilograms. For example, the Transit 350 with rear-wheel drive, long wheelbase and medium-high roof can now carry 80 more kilograms than before, with the same specification and front-wheel drive 48 kilograms.
