The fourth generation (type 2011G) offered between 2018 and 4 offers many variants, engines and is still a pleasure for inspectors and owners during TÜV inspections.

Different optics to choose from

What is it supposed to be? Sedan, station wagon (Avant) or would you prefer the all-road version trimmed for off-road? Or the chic and technically related hatchback model stands out A7 Sportback in the eye? Those interested in used cars can choose from different body styles. At just under 5 meters, the Business A6 offers plenty of space for up to five passengers. The luggage compartment of the sedan is also large, but only offers a comparatively small opening. After all: 530 to 995 liters fit inside. Those who want to transport bulky goods choose the Avant with a large tailgate. Depending on the seat configuration, the trunk 565 has a capacity of up to 1.680 liters. The luggage section of the A7 Sportback is between 535 and 1.390 liters. Inside, the Audi in all body versions is one of the chicest and highest quality that you can get below the luxury class. Good workmanship is part of the standard scope. In 2014 the A6 received a facelift, with modified headlights, grille and bumpers. The appearance, however, remains dignified restrained.

Engines and drive for the Audi A6

The range of engines for the A6 is large, ranging from four to six to eight cylinders and covers a power range from 100 kW / 136 hp to 445 kW / 605 hp in the RS6 Performance. All-wheel drive is standard for the more powerful engines, while the weaker ones are also available with front-wheel drive. An almost confusing variety of gears is available for power transmission. Starting with manual switches over a six-speed automatic converter to seven-speed dual clutch transmission and eight-speed automatic. There is also the Audi specialty “Multitronic”, a particularly economical continuously variable transmission.

The diesel share is high in business vehicles and so the majority of the used vehicles on offer are likely to have a compression-ignition engine. The 2,0-liter four-cylinder TDI with 136 hp already offers plenty of torque with 350 Nm, and up to 140 kW / 190 hp are available in further expansion stages. The three-liter six-cylinder also starts with 190 hp. The top unit is the expansion stage with 240 kW / 326 PS and 650 Nm. The standard consumption of the compression ignition is between 4,2 and 6,7 liters. If you are interested in a diesel, you should make sure, especially with the 2.0 TDI (VW EA 189), that the software update required as part of the diesel scandal has been carried out.
As an alternative to the diesel, there is a choice of petrol engines from 190 hp to 605 hp. The top engines are 3,0-liter V6 petrol engines, which are brought up to performance with a compressor or twin turbocharger. The superior performance of the 3.0 TFSI (220 kW / 300 PS to 245 kW / 333 PS), S6 (331 kW / 450 PS), RS 6 (412 kW / 560 PS) and RS6 Performance require a good flow of fuel lines. The 2,8-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine with 150 kW / 204 hp also offers a high level of running comfort. Alternatively, there are four-cylinders with 1,8 and 2,0 liters displacement and 140 190 PS to 185 kW / 252 PS. The four-cylinder engines require an average of between 5,7 and 6,9 liters. The six-cylinder allow themselves to standard up to 9,6 liters.

Lots of equipment for little money

Since the A6 is a typical leasing company car, most vehicles are well equipped. Ultimately, extra equipment only increases the leasing rate slightly. The range of lavishly configured models is therefore large. Particularly interesting are LED headlights, the business package with navigation and Co., the adaptive cruise control or the air suspension, which ensures special driving comfort. Leather, matrix light or connectivity systems are also available. First-time owners also often ordered assistance systems. In 2011, the Ingolstadt-based driver achieved the maximum rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test.

Used car check: Audi A6 delivers the quality

The Audi A6 from Type 4G is one of TÜV's favorites. The examiners found little to complain about during the main inspection. Compared to all test subjects, it performs better than the average over all years. Every now and then, porous brake lines are uncomfortable. Unlike the previous model (Type 4F), there are no problems with the brakes, exhaust system or lights.

Despite many kilometers, the performance is still good

Those interested in used cars can't go wrong with the A6. Quality and reliability are right. He also usually doesn't mind intensive use. Company vehicles are also regularly serviced. For older models you have to invest around 8.000 euros, for models after the facelift around 13.000 euros are required.
