Selling used cars - This is how you photograph your car

In our first guidebook we have already described how important it is that you have a clean vehicle, if you want to photograph this. Especially if you want to sell the car, it is important that you can underline his honest description with attractive photos. So you want to sell your car? You have already cleaned your car properly? So let it begin! If not, read here again quickly what you should pay attention to your car really nice to be able to take pictures.

Take a photo of used cars:

So you create promotional photos of your vehicle, which are likely to screw up the proceeds, because bad photos not only lower the interest of potential buyers, but also the price. We can assure you from our own experience.

A picture is worth a thousand words. This is especially true in vehicle exchanges, where the first impression counts and the next offer is just a mouse click away. Our tips should help you stand out from the crowd with high quality images.
Meanwhile, you no longer need high-quality camera equipment to take professional photos of his vehicle, a current smartphone is already enough.

Used car photos: The location is important!

We recommend an empty parking lot, an empty parking deck or another area where the surroundings do not distract from the actual product (the car). The background should be neutral, i.e. not photograph in front of a car dealership and certainly not in the middle of the city. The weather cannot always be influenced, ideally you have a slightly cloudy sky, which reduces the reflections from the sun. A car needs space, always take two vehicle lengths apart. Anyone who photographs their vehicle in a dark garage while it is parked on the wall - you shouldn't be surprised if this is not very popular.

With a car there is often “love at first sight” and meaningful pictures are known to say more than 1000 written words, which is why we choose a typical “car newspaper picture” for our first sales picture.

The car from the front diagonally left, at an angle of about 45 °. The wheels are then turned to the right, thus the rims (hopefully cleaned clean) come into their own. Try different heights, often a slightly lower position looks even more dynamic.
We recommend then to photograph all sides of the vehicle: front, side, rear, rims individually, possibly even the profile of the tires, known damage should be photographed. It also makes sense to turn the vehicle over once and to photograph the vehicle at the same angle, also here you hit the wheels and select a dynamic height.

The interior is important, after all, you can always see it when you sit inside. The dashboard is best photographed from the back seat, with the steering wheel straight. The next photo should show the speedometer with the odometer reading. Then the seats and the special equipment. Does the vehicle have a sunroof? Taking photos! Does the vehicle have other special features in the interior? Air conditioning? An automatic? A special infotainment system? Switch on and take pictures, so you can also prove the function.

Photograph door entrances and of course we also show the tidy and cleaned trunk and the view under the bonnet. Admittedly, with current engines, there's nothing left except a plastic cover anyway, but it just belongs to it.

How many photos bring success in used car sales?

You should take 10-18 photos of your vehicle, we recommend 10 photos of the exterior and 8 photos of the interior. If you do not want to show your license plate on the Internet, you can either dismantle it beforehand or - and this usually looks better - remove it with a graphics editing program. You don't have to be Photoshop-Philipp to do that, you can do it yourself - or you can just ask the spotty computer nerd that you used to tease in class and who now has a better endowed job than yourself.

You should remove digital but no damage, because after all, you want to convince the future buyer and not fooled. When car sales you should be honest and not the photos tune like a profile picture in a dating service.

It also makes sense to take photos of special equipment, the checkbook and possibly the special entries / ABEs in tuning articles. Are the installed rims registered? How long does the vehicle still have TÜV? These things can be clarified with a simple photo.
Make it easy for you and the potential buyers, everything you can see in the photos leaves no questions unanswered. Convertibles are always photographed open in the lead picture, but you should also show the convertible roof in the closed position. Are there cracks in the roof? What does the rear window look like? This is of interest to the potential buyer, so don't leave any questions unanswered, otherwise you will have to answer everything later by email. In our first post we already gave the tip that you can avoid the stress. You can simply upload your photos to www.meinautomakler.de and the staff will make sure that you usually have an offer within 48 hours. There you first enter the manufacturer, the brand and the mileage. Then you select the category, the color and the performance and describe the extras, give optional information or show the damage caused by the accident. You can already choose whether the vehicle has an engine failure or not. Then you enter the location, the e-mail address, the telephone number and an asking price and you can request a free offer.

How do I find one fair used car price for my car?

First of all, you can look at the market, at what prices comparable vehicles are traded. Do not forget: dealers must give warranty on the vehicles, here the prices are often a bit more expensive than at private providers. An approximate rating can be found on Schwacke, DAT, the ADAC used car rating or other online reviews. But caution is advised, here are often missing the additional costs for other accessories, which should be included in the pricing. Incidentally, in the photo selection, the vehicle has a trailer hitch? Then you should show this as well as the optional hardtop on the convertible. On relevant well-known car sales pages can now also determine the unfair value of the used car.

And where I sell my car now?

Basically, that is vehicle sales via www.meinautomakler.de free of charge, if other services (status report by experts or similar) are used, costs arise. Without an explicit order, the sale is free of charge, just like a broker www.meinautomakler.de receives money from its customers, not from the seller.
