Geneva: Nissan IMQ Concept

IMQ is the name of a new Nissan study that, in addition to some futuristic elements, also offers an outlook on an upcoming production model.

What will future Nissan SUV models look like in Europe? A more concrete answer to this question is given by the Japanese with the IMQ, which celebrates its premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (7 to 17, March). The futuristic-looking show car is planned as a preview of a soon to be released production model, without being really close to production.

With the SUV study IMQ Nissan gives outlook on the new Qashqai

From the outside dimensions Nissan corresponds to the C-segment format, suggesting that the nearly 4,56 meter long IMQ indicates the upcoming Qashqai, which is now in the current version six years on the market and is approaching the end of its construction period , The proportions of the body or the light designs front and rear are likely to come quite close to those of the third Qasqai generation. Typical concept elements that will not come in the standard model are the 22-inch wheels, camera-based exterior mirrors or the abandonment of door handles by also oppositely battered entry portals.

The entrance doors open in opposite directions

Thanks to the lack of B-pillars, these allow potential guests a generous entrance into the interior, which is furnished with four individual seats. The stalls seem to float freely as well as the center console, which divides the light-flooded interior in its complete length. The dashboard looks futuristic with its 33-inch screen embedded in the instrument panel, which remains completely black when at rest.

The front and rear lights should look quite similar at the upcoming Quashqai

The motorization of the IMQ is a further development of Nissan's electric e-power drive, in which instead of a large battery, a combustion engine powers the electric motors. In the case of the IMQ comes an 250 kW / 340 PS and 700 Newton meters strong, multi-engine electric four-wheel drive used. As an electricity supplier is also an 1,5-liter turbo gasoline engine on board.
