Wanted: The best engine sound in the world / Raffle

Where do the emotions come from when driving? Yeah right, for many people, the engine sound is the main source of emotional feeling when driving a car. Goose bumps feeling when driving? With a great engine sound that's easier than without! But which engine sounds best?

Wanted: The hottest engine sound in the world!

Join in the search and win with a little luck one year refuel for free!

Does it have to bubble, does it have to babble? Screech, saw or hiss? Turbo Boom or naturally aspirated engine? Which motor makes the best sound you could wish for?

Along with Jens from rad-ab.com I'll be on the hunt in the coming days and will find the “BEST ENGINE SOUND”!

But what is actually engine sound? For some, it may be noise coming from the muffler of stinking tin boxes, others will recognize the 180 ° V8 sound of a Ferrari, or know exactly why a US V8 babbles so wonderfully. No matter how the engine sounds, in the end it's just the damn result of a combustion process. But have you ever thought about the technique?

Where does the sound come from?

A naturally aspirated V8 with a 90° ignition angle roars out the joy of life - a four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine from the old DTM was screaming, sawing, at the limit of what you can listen to - I loved it. On the race track, for example, the M3 four-cylinder (E30) were so clearly identifiable by their sound that I still dream about them today. In the end, both engines only received gasoline and air in a mixture, burned and emitted. So easy. In theory. In practice, combustion temperatures of 600° and more are commonplace. Over 18 bar of pressure in the cylinder interior, a piston the size of a fist has to withstand these strains, is balanced up and down in a steel or aluminum block and moves up and down at up to 50 meters per second. 50 meters per second! The piston moves in the block at a maximum of 180 km/h and is constantly braked in its direction of movement. There are incomprehensible forces at work. All of this needs the right protection. And because we are taking part in a Mobil 1 competition with our search for the “best engine sound” - I would also advise you to check your engine oil!

Jens and I - we've driven a lot of cars - but we have decided on two engines for this competition. Two special cars. Two special engines. Two times a very special engine sound!

In the coming week we will present our favorites in two videos and you are invited to participate in the vote. Participate - tell us your opinion. Comment and vote and if you play it should not be to your disadvantage. Because there is something for you to win too!

Refuel for 1 for free for a year

Refuel for free - for a year - who doesn't want that? Who now on the Website of Mobil 1 - and hopefully vote for the Jens & Bjoern team - he can (with a little luck) win exactly that.

Stay tuned, await our videos about the engine sound, support us, discuss with us - and then vote. For Jens and me, on the competition page of Mobil 1. And this time we really need your vote, because we are facing an international competition. Tim Burton, better known as @Shmee150 and the boys @GaragesDesBlogs from France!
