There is currently a real glut of videos that are shot with a “drone”. Often it is quite simple and cheap drone solutions that are used for this. For a clip with the new Honda Civic, my partners and I chose a drone that originated in a much more professional environment.

With my partners art view and Air Rotor Media it was possible to convince one of the big players in automobile construction to conduct an experiment directly - not through a dealer, but directly through the importer.

Along with HONDA Germany  So last week we shot our first clip, which - as soon as it is finished, should show the possibilities of drones in the field of automotive clips in perfect quality. Honda Germany took part in this experiment with an absolutely new HONDA Civic (click driving report!) And turned out to be the perfect companion for this campaign, even beyond the limits of a simple partnership.

For me personally it was also the “first time” to organize such a shoot. I can reveal so much by the way: Not everything went smoothly - which was probably not to be expected either, and the day of shooting was a real challenge. The main role of the clip is played by a white Honda Civic that was driven by me. Many hours in the car - sometimes only driving a few km / h in order to capture the right angle for the clip together with the drone.

The difference between the “toy drones” and the model we use can be seen quite well if you look at the photo:

The know-how for this drone, which the owners prefer to call “UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle), comes from the military sector and has been extensively converted for use as a“ flying eye ”. With a special mounting solution, digital video cameras up to 6kg in size, at a height of up to 80m and at a speed of up to 60 km / h, can be moved into completely new angles and perspectives.
