Hyundai deter martens - drive them away with Volt

Classic home remedies such as dog or cat hair, mothballs or wire mats are of little or no help against marten attacks on ignition cables, power lines and hoses in the vehicle. Defense is better achieved with ultrasound or with the help of light current surges.

To protect vehicles from damage caused by marten bites, Hyundai offers its customers the option of retrofitting their vehicles with special ultrasound technology or an electrical defense system. For around 100 euros (plus assembly), Hyundai workshops are installing an ultrasound device that emits sounds that are inaudible to humans at various frequencies and is intended to drive rodents out of the engine compartment. The electrical system costs around 180 euros (plus assembly). The engines of larger vehicles can also be secured against marten visits with additional stainless steel contact plates.
