The manufacturer alliance of Renault and Nissan also has a modular system for the latest generations of automobiles. On the basis of the CMF construction kit, on which the new Espace and cars like the new Nissan Qashqai and Nissan X-Trail based, Renault now presents the new Renault Mégane.
IAA 2015: The new Renault Mégane
Flatter, but longer, wider and with more interior space for passengers and luggage. The principle for the new Mégane is simple, but effective. The new platform enables moderate growth and, despite the reduced height, the occupants have more space inside.
Technology fireworks
Renault plans to offer a diesel hybrid in the Megane from 2017; the largest display in this class is already available, right in the center console. Reminds a little of the US Tesla. Coming from the larger models, Renault has given the Megane rear-axle steering, which is supposed to promise both more safety and more handiness. LED headlights are standard and a head-up display is also part of the feasible scope for the new French Golf.
Five diesels, four petrol engines - all with turbochargers!
The 110 hp diesel version is the modest variant. With only 3.3 liters in the NEDC over 100 km, it should help the Renault Megane to new modesty. Above and below, engines range from 90 to 205 hp. The top model is the GT, first of all, it also has the 205 hp turbo petrol engine.
