Concept in Geneva: Skoda Vision iV

Skoda becomes electric, but remains practical. This is particularly evident in the interior of the current crossover study, which probably already carries a lot from the production model of the not so distant future.

The Skoda Vision iV gives an outlook on the brand's future electric cars

With the electrically powered Vision iV study, Skoda shows how the VW subsidiary imagines its automotive future. The concept vehicle, drawn in the SUV coupé style, is based on the Volkswagen Group's electrical kit and is powered by two electric motors with a total of 225 kW / 306 hp across all four wheels. A lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 83 kWh, which is housed in the underbody in front of the rear axle, serves as the power storage. It can be filled to 30 percent in 80 minutes on a suitably strong charging station and enables a range of 500 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. The two electric motors accelerate the study to 5,9 km / h in 100 seconds and from 80 to 120 km / h in less than four seconds. The top speed is limited to 180 km / h.

With a length of 4,67 meters, the Vision iV is almost as big as the Skoda Kodiaq, but looks much more dynamic due to the coupe-like shape. Thanks to its innovative interior concept, the study should still offer generous space. The interior ideas include, for example, rotatable seats, the absence of a center console, plenty of storage space, a seemingly free-floating screen as a central information element and a dainty two-spoke steering wheel.

As befits a vision, Skoda packs all the currently possible wizards, sensors and connectivity options into the vehicle. Exterior mirrors are replaced here for example by cameras. Of course, Vison iV can park alone, drive autonomously on the motorway or communicate with other vehicles or the infrastructure about danger spots.

Before the study becomes reality, Skoda will launch the first electric model on the market in the course of the year with the electric Citigo. Vision iV will then become reality at the beginning of 2020 and after the VW ID drive as the first Skoda model of the new group kit to customers - then certainly in versions with less power.
